Samoa became a German Colony March 1, 1900. The first German colonial stamps were overprinted "Samoa" and issued in May 1900.

    #70-73 1915 Kaiser's Yacht Issue
 Some of the 1900 stamps were re-issued in 1914 on watermarked paper with a "lozenges" pattern. These were printed and sold in Berlin only.


#57-69 1900 Kaiser's Yacht
 In 1900 stamps picturing the Kaiser's yacht, "Hohenzollern" were issued for Germany's colonies; typographed, engraved and without watermark.
