0.20 RM Dark Blue DVG Dues Stamp, 1940. NSDAP organization in occupied
Lorraine, France. (The following is a Wikipedia posting in German with a
Google translaton). The D.V.G. was created in August 1940 as a
replacement and deputy organization for the NSDAP in occupied Lorraine
by decree of Bürckel, who himself took over the leadership of the
country. According to the organizational plan of the D.V.G. from
February 1, 1941, the district leaders were all seconded from the
neighboring NSDAP district of Saar-Palatinate; of the 17 full-time
officials in the regional leadership, 12 were German and only 5 were
local Lorraine residents. Admission slips were immediately distributed
to all households in the department by the occupation authorities.
During
the ethnic cleansing of French-speaking Lorraine, which the German
occupiers carried out in August/September 1940[9] and November 1940, DVG
officials helped select the groups of people to be expelled. In October
1940, the German secret service reported on the wave of entry into the
D.V.G.: "Experts are of the opinion that part of the population would
like to avoid a possible future evacuation in this way.In 1942, members
and their families were expressly exempted from expulsion and
resettlement measures.
